Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.

The latest version of the game can always be found here:

Time to get back on track with this incoming war as we timeskip ahead to a mere five days before the battle at Jargo. There's just a quick run over to the meeting hall for a quick peptalk from Eander before the wheels of fate begin to turn.

Before you enter the meeting hall though, make sure everything on Jovian & Angel is unequipped. You'll see why soon enough.

After some more conversations, including a peptalk from the king of Kirgard, Frederick IV, as well as a remark from Daniel about how everyone's lives will have changed the next time they see the city, you get a chance to save your game. Not a bad idea because the very first war battle kicks off after you exit the screen.

War battles are simple enough with objectives, typically being a full route of the enemy forces or defeating their leader as denoted by a banner above their head as seen by our side on Jovian's unit.

Moving around, you'll do so by selecting one of your units and moving them. Once you've done that, you can elect to attack if an enemy is in range or wait a turn.

Stat wise, Atk & Def are your how much overall damage & how well can you tank stats. Men is your unit's hp level and rather important to keep at a high level because the lower a unit's men are, the lower the damage that unit will do.

Finally, there's four total unit types, but only three are on display here and they are infantries, cavaliers, and scouts.

Infantries can only attack adjacent squares and have a move range of 2, but unlike all the other unit types, they are not slowed down in forests or mountains.

Scouts have a movement range of 3 in all terrain types except for mountains. Their mastery of ranged arrow attacks allows them to attack from up to 2 tiles away from their enemy target. They can even attack adjacent enemies if you so desire.

Cavaliers, while being a little weaker than infantries and only able to move 1 square in forests & mountains, make up for it with a quite impressive 4 move range, allowing them to kill or greatly injure targets that might otherwise be further back behind their meatshields in front.

For this fight, Jovian & Angel will be controlled by the AI while you get to control Daniel. He himself is an infantry as is one of his buddy units. The other one in his army is a scout.

The strategy here's pretty simple as Jovian describes. Send Daniel and his squad members to the southeast to attack the enemy from the west. Jovian & Angel will dive south to attack from the north.

When Daniel's squad starts getting close to the enemy forces, you'll want him or the other infantry unit to stand just inside the range of one enemy, maybe two depending on where they set themselves up. This'll injure the attacker since you get to counter if your unit type can do so. Keep wailing away and let the scout unit pick off any very weak enemies and you'll finish up just after Jovian & Angel instantly delete anyone in their path.

When completing a battle, you'll be graded in three areas, expressed as a percentage that maxes out at 100%. Power is determined by how many enemy units you killed, Efficiency relates to how many of your units get completely wiped out, and Speed just means how fast you finish a fight.

The three above area are averaged out and expressed as a percentage. 95% or high nails you an A grade. You are then awarded an item based on your grade. Since I got an A rank, I get another element for the collection, the thunder-aligned Lightning spell.

After the battle, the team's poised to launch their assault on Kelsinger Pass. There's just one little problem...some voices that ring out before the guys get a chance to sleep. Cue Angel rushing in to say a surprise attack was launched on the second division, Daniel's unit. Jovian & Angel go one way while Daniel rushes back to the camp where his unit resides.

Next time, we'll get to see how Daniel will handle saving his division while blindfolded.
