Here is the best method to change your refresh rate in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Important Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure your setup can support a high refresh rate:
Monitor: Ensure your monitor's specifications confirm it can run at 144Hz, 240Hz, or higher. Check the product's manual or the manufacturer's website.
Cable: The cable connecting your PC to the monitor is critical. Not all cables can handle the bandwidth required for high resolutions at high refresh rates.
DisplayPort (DP) 1.2 or higher is generally recommended for 144Hz and 240Hz.
HDMI 2.0 or higher can also support high refresh rates, but it's important to check your monitor's specific requirements. An older HDMI 1.4 cable, for example, may not be able to output 144Hz at 1080p resolution.
