NordVPN allows you to control what apps use the VPN connection through the split tunneling feature. Split tunneling is useful if there is a particular task you want to be performed with the best connection possible. Commonly split tunneling is used when gaming to ensure the best ping and connection possible.

Inside the NordVPN application settings is the split tunneling tab. By default the feature will be turned off, flick the switch to enable it. Once enabled the configuration settings will be shown.

Split tunneling has two options, allowing you to disable the VPN connect for specific apps, or enable it for the apps. If you want most of your applications to connect through NordVPN then choosing the disable option is best. This will allow you to only add the few programs you don’t want to connect using Nord. However if you only want a couple of programs to use the VPN connection, then selecting the enable option is the better option. This way you only need to choose the apps you want to use the VPN.

Once your chosen applications have been set up with split tunneling they will be saved and carried over session to session. Restarting or turning off your computer will not remove or reset the programs.

Programs can also be removed at any time by hovering over them in the list, and pressing the cross. Once a program has been removed it will no longer follow the specific rule.
