About this video: If you want to know the best settings to make Minecraft run faster in 1.18, this is the video for you! We go over all of the best Optifine settings that you can use to get a FPS Boost in Minecraft 1.18. From what you need to set your graphics settings to in order make Minecraft run smoother on a laptop to simple Minecraft 1.18 lag fixes that improve performance drastically, we will show you everything you need to know in order to get more FPS in Minecraft 1.18!
First things first, you will need to download and install Optifine for 1.18. Optifine is required for this tutorial. Luckily, we have a complete guide on how to download, install, and setup Optifine for Minecraft 1.18. It has helped millions of people get 1.18 Optifine, and it will help you as well!
After you have Optifine installed, go ahead and open up Minecraft with it. First though, you want to make sure that any texture packs are turned off. Minecraft resource packs will just cause lag on your Minecraft. Lag reduction resource packs don't work, and it is better to stay with vanilla Minecraft textures.
Once you have removed any texture packs, click on 'Video Settings'. This is where most of the things we will do to make Minecraft faster will be done. First things first, you want to turn graphics to fast. Then, you want to turn your render distance all the way down. I know this will make it harder to play, but you can always increase your render distance later on. Turn smooth lighting off and simulation distance to 5 chunks. Max framerate can be turned all the way up to unlimited.
Entity shadows can be turned off as can dynamic lights. Shaders need to be disabled! If you have lagging with shaders, turning off shaders will stop all lag. As far as quality settings go, those need to either be turned off or set to fast if there is no 'off' option. The details tab is the same way except for entity distance which can be set to 50%.
As far as 'Performance' goes, these actually need to all be turned of and chunk updates need to be set to 1. This is where you will get a lot of the under the hood changes to Minecraft that will increase performance a ton. Chunk builder can be set to Threaded.
Animations are easy, just click the 'All Off' button, and you are done. The settings in 'Other' don't usually have too much of a performance different.
With all of those options changed, you will now be able to login to Minecraft, and it should run faster on low end PCs! However, if you do have any issues getting more FPS in Minecraft 1.18, let us know in the comments. We will try to help you out. However, if we did help you make Minecraft run faster, please give this video a thumbs up and subscribe. Thanks in advance!
