Gameplay from the first few stages of Jett Rocket a 3D platform games very much inspired by the N64 games from the genre like Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie. As the name suggests are hero has a jetpack strapped to back and can use it for a limited period to fly and hover. Fuel is limited, but there are plenty of recharging stations found on each level.
The 3D art style and gameplay homage the games of old perfectly, while at the same time addressing problems like the camera issues of the era. Something Yooka-Laylee struggled to do, Jett Rocket does everything just about right from the level design to the platforming. It plays and handles well and the levels feel just about the right length for the game taking around 5 -15 minutes to finish. At the same time you likely won't find everything hidden on each stage first time around encouraging you to come back and explore. The jetski level shown in the video is a fun welcome break from the platforming.
A well put together title well worth investing in for fans of the genre and gamers both young and old. A demo is also available for free on the Wii Shop Channel, so no excuses for not trying it out. Jett Rocket recieved a well deserved sequel which appeared on the 3DS eshop service.
With the Wii Shop Channel coming to an end in the near future and the ability to buy games ending next week we though it was time to cover some of the best games on the system. Buy them while you still can.
