With half a world finished, we now come to 1-5, Hop! Hop! Donut Lifts, the game's first athletic stage...and the first auto-scrolling stage. Aye-yi-yi. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate auto-scroll? At least this one is in World 1, so it's not too terribly bad. Past that, the stage is fairly short, and the Donut Lifts aren't really much of a problem (partly because they fall so much slower than their SMB3 counterparts). In fact, it's too bad they appear so infrequently in the game; I kind of like them. The one trouble with this stage is the stars...if you're going for 100 points on this one, you have very little room for error as far as getting 30 stars goes.

Then there's 1-6, Shy-Guys On Stilts. It has two themes, flower garden and cave, and said Shy-Guys on stilts appear frequently in both. The cave sections have the added effect of being dark (there's some fancy Layer 3 color math going on), unlike 1-3. It's easy enough to beat the stage and get a perfect score on, though; while a few of the red coins are off the main path, 1-6 is much more forgiving with the stars than 1-5 was.
