Let's Play Yoshi's Island - Part 4: Dizzy and Slimy
0The first stage here is 1-7, Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy...and it's an interesting one. It's the first jungle-themed one, but that's not the important part...the important part is the second half of the stage, where we are introduced to a new gimmick: Fuzzies, fluffy white creatures that float around languorously...and cause some pretty wild effects if you should touch or eat one. The ground...it moves! And ooh, pretty colors... 1-7 on the whole is pretty easy, though; there aren't that many enemies to worry about, although there is a well-hidden secret area in the last room that could easily cause trouble for anyone attempting to get 100 points.
1-8, Salvo the Slime's Castle, is the first castle in the game (duh), marking the end of World 1 (not counting the extra stage). It's quite short, it introduces a few interesting new sprites, and the boss at the end is a pushover. Upon beating 1-8, the scores for every level show up, and if they are all 100, the word "PERFECT" appears on the screen, and the extra and bonus stage for the world open up. You also get to see a little cutscene of Yoshi blowing up the castle.
That's 8 stages down and World 2 unlocked...but we're not going there just yet...
