[Mage] Daggerfall Unity [5] | Azimuthal Vectors Continued | Ruins of The Wicking Farmstead
Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Temple of Kynareath.
Continuing with the mission that we used to test the spells that we had crafter using the spellmaker, we continue on our journey within The Ruins of The Wicking Farmstead to find a wizardly scholar who would have an idea about the whereabouts of Hawksly's shield.
We search through the entirety of the maze-like labyrinth only to find her locked behind a door inside of a room that was only one foot long and one foot wide. Apparently, the denizens of the dungeon had held her captive in there. At least, they left more than enough space necessary to keep her standing.
We found ourselves relying mostly on our invisibility and finally came to a realisation that our destruction spells actually don't work the way that we intended them to work since we made numerous mistakes born of avarice during the spell-making process.
And that mistake of ours came back to bite us in the hindquarters when we finally found the next piece of the puzzle leading us to The Barrow of Stadivam, a dungeon full of skeletons. Unlike the foes that we've been fooling thus far, Skeletons can see through your invisibility and come charging straight at you. Not only that, this little hovel also has a chamber with up to ten skeletons crashing onto your carcass at once. As a result, this otherwise small and harmless dungeon quickly turns into hazardous place for a Level 3 mage with dysfunctional spells to explore.
As a result, we ended up abandoning the quest in favour of being alive. At least we informed the Mages' Guild's Quester about the location of the Tower Shield. With any luck, he could probably send someone else to fetch the tower shield so that he may complete his research. For our end of the task, we were told to report our findings to the quester and that is what we did. Let us hope that he does not have any other unrealistic expectations of us.
Here is how Strangeblood continued his quest:
