Mega Man 3 (NES) Playthrough - Part 12: Shadow Man Redux (Doc Robot: Wood Man/Heat Man)
The last of the "let's switch some tiles around" levels, and with it the last two instances of Doc Robot to contend with. Kicking things off is that obviously super-fun piece of level design, platforming in the dark. With temporary platforms! Let's not use Rush Jet (because abusing that power yet all the time is for scrubs -- I probably should do *something* properly, at least).
Doc Wood is practically impossible to physically avoid compared to the 'real' Wood Man, so it's less to do with patterns and more to do with just smashing your face against his in a game of turn-based damage exchanges and pelting the fucker with Needle Cannon. Usually it's enough to finish the task after the second Leaf Shield is lobbed, unless you're having a bad day.
For once, I'm not having a bad day.
Oh wait, yes I am, but only against Doc Heat.
Unlike the 'real' Heat Man, this guy doesn't stand there scratching his robo-balls for a few moments after charging; he's lobbing fire around almost immediately. Of course not being able to pre-emptively drop a giant bubble on his head doesn't help matters much either. Is it difficult?
Don't be stupid, of course it's not. It's merely less simple to exploit such a gaping weakness.
After all that, you'd expect the Wily Fort stages to start, right? Nope. Break Man wants to join the fun...
