One down, a bunch more to go.

Shadow Man's lair is... I don't know what the fuck this place is supposed to be, apart from 'underground somewhere'. Is that liquid supposed to be lava? Why is it black? Who cares?

The level itself introduces a couple of things; the first of which is Break Man (Proto Man/Blues in a bad disguise). He's pretty useless with an easy pattern and soon fucks off back to wherever he came from, but only the Mega Buster will do anything to him.

The second thing is the use of surprise enemy attacks while you're trying to jump over a gap; in this case, it's a load of Parasyu falling from above over that liquid black shit. I know that using Top Spin can make this particular section go by in less time, but as a kid I never really got used to Top Spin's contact changing your direction and instead just go ahead with the Mega Buster. Bad habit? Not really, there's no room for embarrassment when you're not showing off.

Oh wait. There goes an extra life before I can reach it.

Speaking of Top Spin, might as well use it here because it's not getting much else time to shine. Despite turning Shadow Man into a load of balls in only a few attacks (and before the music can really get started), that's NOT actually Top Spin's greatest use.

So then, Shadow Blade... well, it's going to get a lot of use. It's not quite as, erm, 'versatile' (overpowered) as the previous game's Metal Blade, but still has that multi-directional ability and is reasonably light on using weapon energy. Not to mention it tears the shit out of most things with relative ease.

Rush Marine, on the other hand, is borderline pointless outside of a couple of specific areas. Rush Jet pisses all over it. Because simply put, Rush Jet is INCREDIBLY overpowered.
