Metroid: Other M - Gravity Well (Part 23)
Samus's Log: "Persistent little thing, isn't it? I'm glad this is the last I'll ever see of it. Such a hideous creature, with a face only a Mother Brain could love... This is why I don't crack jokes."
Thanks for that bit of revisionist history there, game recap! Cry, cry for Adam! Sure, he's not the ringleader of the evil plot going on here but....I will never let him shooting Samus go. BTW, the fact that Adam mentions Metroids can't be frozen now...after he froze the one near Samus DOES get an explanation that makes sense later.Just pointing out that out.
This episode is primarily composed of a boss fight...that I was not nearly as prepared for as I thought I was. This is my THIRD time playing this game through, and I KNEW the rematch with Nightmare was coming...but I spend a lot of time doing some dumb things with this boss fight.
With our Gravity Suit the boss fight SHOULD be a breeze, and it largely isn't too bad...until Nightmare breaks out a BLACK HOLE. This will suck in ALL attacks, Beam, Missile or otherwise. To my knowledge...you can't really destroy it in any way, so instead you have to maneuver yourself in such a way to get Nightmare in front of the Black Hole, so you can still hit your mark. Too bad it takes me a while to figure that out!
All the while those huge....painfully slow moving projectiles make things annoying. They're so big and so slow that you can use Sensemove LONG before they could hope to hit you...which can actually impede movement a bit!
I've heard you can actually beat this boss fairly quickly if you launch a Super Missile at Nightmare IMMEDIATELY entering the boss fight. I tried to but....the cursor wasn't cooperating. That said, I don't think I'd have enough missiles to get the job done without a recharge.
After Nightmare's well and truly defeated we....still go through an area with the gravity all screwed up. Why is it still like this?! While we're at it, just what was Nightmare doing here? I get that they were probably using it as a bioweapon but if it was still screwing up the gravity even when CAPTIVE....seems like a lost cause, guys!
Let's keep moving. The end approaches.
