Samus' Log: "Thoughts swirl in my mind as I continue onward. I have to find Adam, I have to get some answers. I - You know...I really should be activating my Gravity Suit by now. Oh well. I guess I can consider this some intense weight training."

As we travel onward, we get some time to bask in our newfound power. That creepy brain thing? One Plasma Beam Charge Shot can take it down! Or a Super Missile. Or a Screw Attack, I believe. Even with stronger enemies being brought in, Samus is armed to the teeth!

So of course we get a section that severely limits her movement. The gravity goes wonky and we'll have to do some platforming on the ceiling!

I want to stress here that, in a vacuum, this section is fine. Its actually even fun! Being primarily in 2D, it results in an interesting twist, and they do a good job at showing how hard this gravity can push down on Samus. Everything you do has this weight to it. Even missiles will immediately drop to the ground! However...

Much like with the Pyrosphere run sans Varia Suit....it is absolutely asinine that Samus would not turn her Gravity Suit on here. We don't even have the excuse of Samus waiting for Adam to authorize her powers, since she just activated her Space Jump and Screw Attack last episode! Time is of the essence here, the stakes have never been higher...and Samus is going to let this gravity impede her...

Then we get to the cause of this funky Gravity: Nightmare! Here's a callback to Metroid Fusion...or uh...a call forward? A creature that has the ability to control gravity at will, in that game defeating it gave Samus her Gravity Suit back and it made sense. Here...it results in a fight that Samus should easily win, but chooses to make hard for herself.

And again, the fight isn't bad! It's decently challenging! You''ll have to freeze Nightmare's uh...tail to block it's gravity powers for a time, and then unload some Super Missiles on its face. The game can be kinda finicky with Super Missiles. You have to charge up AND make sure you're locked on, and it doesn't always work like I'd want.

Despite a close call, we came out on top. I don't mind the Nightmare section at all, but the placement is weird. The plot is ratcheting it up, and this whole section feels so disconnected from it all. And then there's the Gravity Suit issue that plagues the whole thing...Oh and by the way, the door leading into all this was like...one of maybe TWO doors that need the Seeker Missile to open. Gotta give that power SOME use, right?!
