MiSTer FPGA - Harmful Park (ハームフルパーク) [1cc] / PlayStation
23Harmful Park is an awesome game I'd heard about many times over the years, but hadn't played until trying it on MiSTer's PSX core. After a few attempts, this was my first time clearing normal difficulty with 1 credit. I would've used the recent English translation hack in this run, but there are currently some audio timing issues when it's used with original hardware or MiSTer. I'll record a run on a harder difficulty with the English translation if/when it's updated.

If you haven't played this one before, give it a try! It's a very fun shooter for players of all skill levels, with some excellent artwork throughout. Defaults to easy difficulty and is a walk in the park, with many enemies not even shooting at you on that setting.
Small but neat thing I noticed, is that the demo loops are really great in this game. You get to experience the background and enemy artwork while listening to the awesome stage music, without hearing the constant sound of the player shooting and explosions. This makes it kind of like a music video mode, which is a fun way to experience the artwork. I included the demo loops at the end of this video @ 43:55
I can't quite get the graphics where I want them in this game. For blur level, I prefer a step below what's used in this video for the stage artwork. Gaussian Sharp 50 looks best to me there. The cutscenes look too blurry on the character edges with that much blur though, so I kept it at Gaussian Sharp 55. Having gamma adjustment in the core would help this. (poly 2.3 or 2.4 would probably be sufficient) Hoping this gets added in the future.
Tip: To quick-restart after you begin the game, Pause and then press L+R+Select+Start.
The PlayStation core was created by FPGAzumSpass, whom previously brought us the GBA, Lynx and WonderSwan cores, along with enhancements to the Game Boy and NES cores, and significantly improved performance in the AO486 core.
