MiSTer FPGA - R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 [Wheel & Pedals 16x9] / PlayStation
This is the entire GP mode played with a racing wheel & pedals (Thrustmaster T300RS). Wheel & pedal controls provide amazingly intuitive controls for R4. Keep in mind while watching this, that I had never played this game once before the day this was recorded. The control is that good! T300RS Guide: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?...
New R4 video with s-video style filtering: • MiSTer FPGA - R4: Ridge Racer Type ...
My first video with the official release PSX core, and boy was this a fun one! This core has brought the first authentic arcade racing experience I've had on MiSTer so far! This was the first game I tried with the wheel and I was immediately hooked. Just feels so damn good. After getting the calibration settings dialed in through the options screen, this was such an intuitive way to play the game. I also tried with digital and analog controls and this was the best way by a long shot. In the future I'll give the JogCon a try, once the SNAC adapters are ready for original peripherals.
New Ridge Racer Type 4 video with s-video style filtering (Demo Loop and Hard GP):

Proper wheel configuration with T300RS:
Tap D-pad Left + Mode on wheel until light blinks only once (270 degree mode)
P1 Input: NegCon-Wheel
In-game options: NegCon control type: A // Steering Play: 3mm // Max Rotation: 45 Degrees
If anyone else has driving wheels I strongly suggest you give them a try on MiSTer and see what works and what doesn't. Devs are working on this currently so it's a good time to "strike while the iron is hot" and get your issue reports in regarding compatibility.
The widescreen hack also gives a noticeably larger FOV when playing this game on a CRT, though the aspect ratio will be incorrect.
The PlayStation core was created by FPGAzumSpass, whom previously brought us the GBA, Lynx and WonderSwan cores, along with enhancements to the Game Boy and NES cores, and significantly improved performance in the AO486 core.
