Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! Playthrough 11: The Ship in Vermilion
We have arrived at Vermilion City, which has very nice music and this game does have a good soundtrack, but there are some things to check out in Vermilion City. First up, Officer Jenny will give you a Squirtle if you have caught over 60 Pokémon, then there is a Black Belt who wants me to catch a bunch of Growlithe, and the SS Anne.
As the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description.
The Squirtle that you receive from Officer Jenny is at Level 16, meaning you can evolve it into Wartortle in one level, making it a great addition to the team, and it can be taught the TM for Scald.
The Black Belt on the bench will tell you to catch 5 Growlithe, and will give you a Persian in Let's Go Pikachu. If you are playing Let's Go Eevee, it will be a Beauty who will tell you to catch 5 Meowth and give you an Arcanine. You can ride on Persian and Arcanine and they go very fast, and they are obtained at Level 16.
Persian has very high Speed, and average Attack, and it comes with Pay Day, which is useful for grinding money. I wouldn't say Persian is great in the long run, but it is a decent Pokémon to use.
Unfortunately for Let's Go Eevee players, Arcanine does not learn any moves through level up, as it has missed out on some good moves it would have learned as a Growlithe, so you will be stuck with Ember for a long time, unlike Growlithe who learns Flamethrower at this point in the game. Arcanine does have great stats, but you will have to rely on TMs if you want to get some good moves on it.
It's great that the Chairman of the Pokémon Fan Club describes his Rapidash without fading out certain lines like in the original games. You don't get a bike in this game, but you can ride certain Pokémon, like Persian or Arcanine. In the house next to it, there is a Trainer with a Farfetch'd named Dux who talks about going to catch a Spearow, which is a reference to the original games where you have to trade a Spearow for his Farfetch'd, which is nicknamed Dux.
In the Vermilion City Pokémon Center, you can trade a Geodude for an Alolan Geodude. Alolan Geodude is Rock/Electric, which is an interesting type combo, and is obtained at Level 16. It will learn Thunder Punch at Level 31 as an Alolan Graveler, and to get Alolan Golem, you will have to trade. Alolan Golem has great Attack and Defense, but a bit on the slow side compared to its Kantonian variant, so it's a great trade if you want to use an Alolan Geodude.
In Diglett's Cave, you can encounter Diglett and its evolved form Dugtrio. Dugtrio can be encountered rarely, and it isn't at a very high level like it was in the original games. It will have Dig at Level 18, Slash at Level 21, and Sucker Punch at Level 25. When Diglett evolves into Dugtrio, it will learn Tri Attack, which I don't recommend as Dugtrio does not have good Special Attack. It can get Earthquake at Level 35. Dugtrio has high Speed and good Attack, but it has very low HP. If you catch it as a Dugtrio, it will make a great team member, otherwise you will have to train it up from a Diglett until Level 26. It is a good addition to the team as an option for the third Gym.
Because I didn't want to make the video too short, I decide to show a bit of the SS Anne and we meet Blue. I was going to add that in the description on the first part where the main characters are not Red and Blue, and that Chase and Trace are completely different characters, and that we see Trace and Blue on the SS Anne, and I like how they kept Blue saying "Bonjour", and he gives you a Shalour Sable, an item from the Kalos Region.
