Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! Playthrough 9: Misty's Tough Battle
Now it is time to take on the Cerulean City, and you can do this before meeting Bill on Route 25. Because Misty is a tough Gym Leader, we need to have a Pokémon above Level 15 to stand a good chance against her. This is a Water-type Gym, so Let's Go Pikachu players will have a good shot, otherwise if you evolved a Bulbasaur into Ivysaur, it's a good option.
As the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description.
For Let's Go Eevee players, if you taught Buzzy Buzz to Eevee, this gives you a good advantage against the Water-types, or if you evolved a Bellsprout into Weepinbell, it should take a few Vine Whips to defeat those Water-types.
This Gym has many references to the Anime, the Swimmers that you fight are named Lily, Violet and Daisy, those are Misty's sisters in the Anime, and they even use Goldeen and Seel, which Misty's sisters owned.
Another reference to the Anime is that Misty uses Psyduck in this battle, likely due to Misty's Psyduck being a fan favourite in the Anime. She does have Starmie, which can hit very hard with Scald, this is a tough fight if you are not prepared. Still weird not seeing her use Staryu like in the original games.
After beating Misty, she will give you the Cascade Badge and the TM for Scald, if you have Psyduck or Wartortle on your team, Scald is a great move, 80 Power Water-type move with a 30% chance of burning the target, this move is great on any Water-type Pokémon that you use.
After that, a Team Rocket Grunt has stolen the Dig TM, and that we must enter the house that Officer Jenny was guarding. Dig is a great move to have, since you will be fighting a lot of Electric-types very soon. Sandshrew, Nidoking and Charmeleon are great choices for that TM, so teach this move to any Pokémon that can learn Dig.
Then on Route 5, there is a Daycare when you can only leave one Pokémon, and Hyper Training is in this game. This originated from Pokémon Sun & Moon where after beating the main story, if you have a Pokémon at Level 100, you can maximize your Pokémon IVs, or Individual Values, which is great for Competitive Players.
There are some new encounters on Route 5, but I will be only going over one Pokémon just so there is enough room for the description. Abra is a 5% encounter, and this thing is a pain to catch, but if you can catch Abra, specially a Level 16 Abra, it can be evolved into Kadabra in one Level. Abra only knows Teleport, which in this game allows you to switch Pokémon, so it has a use in Trainer Battles. Teaching it Seismic Toss will give it some way of dealing damage. Kadabra will learn Psybeam upon evolving, and when traded, you can get an Alakazam very early in the game, giving you the most powerful Special Attacker in the game, and it can learn Calm Mind upon evolution, making Alakazam a terrifying Special Sweeper. Alakazam's level up moves are no different to Kadabra's, so you don't have to miss out if you evolve Kadabra right away. It can get Night Shade at Level 19, Reflect at Level 32, Recover at Level 39, and Psychic at Level 45. Alakazam's Special movepool is quite limited, as it can learn Shadow Ball and Dazzling Gleam through TMs. If you can catch an Abra, specially one at Level 16, you can evolve it in one level, and when traded, you can get Alakazam this early on, so I greatly recommend it, that high Special Attack and Speed is too good to pass up, downside is its very low Defense, meaning it can't take a Physical hit well. Even if you don't have a way to trade, Kadabra is decent, as it already has high Special Attack and good Speed.
You can also encounter Jigglypuff and Growlithe/Vulpix on this Route, Growlithe is exclusive to Let's Go Pikachu, while Vulpix is in Let's Go Eevee, but I will go over them in the next part just so there's not too much information in the description.
