Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! Playthrough 18: The Ghost Tower
We have arrived to Lavender Town, and witness a Cubone entering the Pokémon Tower, with my rival following it. We hear rumors that Cubone's mother, Marowak was captured by Team Rocket and had not returned, unlike the original games where they said that Marowak was killed, not captured.
As the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description.
On the first floor of the Pokémon Tower, you will be given the Formal Set, which makes sense as this is a cemetery inside the tower.
There is a trade inside the Pokémon Center where you can trade a Diglett for an Alolan Diglett. While the Ground/Steel typing for Alolan Diglett is nice, and you get it at Level 25, so it needs one level in order to evolve into Alolan Dugtrio. It does come with Dig and Sucker Punch, and can learn Earthquake at Level 35. The difference with Alolan Dugtrio compared to its Kantonian variant is that Alolan Dugtrio has less Speed, but more Defense, but it is quite frail for a Steel-type, and the downside is that the only Steel-type move it can learn is Flash Cannon, and Dugtrio does not have the Special Attack to use it. I would say that Alolan Dugtrio is decent, that Ground/Steel-type is quite useful, but the downside is not learning any usable Steel-type moves, not having Iron Head in this game hurts Alolan Dugtrio's usability.
As for the rival's starter, he uses Jolteon in Let's Go Pikachu, but in Let's Go Eevee, he will have Raichu, so that Alolan Diglett that you can get through that trade can be useful against his starter. For Pidgeotto and Gloom, they can be taken out by Electric and Fire-type moves respectively. There is a Coach Trainer who has a surprisingly speedy Geodude with Rock Slide, which must be due to Geodude having some Speed AVs, which stand for Awakening Values, and when beaten, she will give you either Pikachu Candy or Eevee Candy depending on your game. The Ghosts in the Pokémon Tower act differently, instead of encountering them in battle or not being able to capture them, they send you back to the 1st floor of Pokémon Tower.
Because I didn't want the video to be too short, I decided to show off Route 12. In one house, you get TM50: Roost. Many Flying-type Pokémon, like Fearow and Pidgeot can learn this move, and it is a nice recovery move, but the downside is it removes the Flying-type's immunity to Ground-type moves when used. Route 12 just has some Fishermen who use Water-type Pokémon, but we can't fully explore this route yet, as there is a Snorlax blocking the way.
