Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! Playthrough 15: Pikachu's New Hairstyle
At the beginning of the video, I show that you can change Pikachu's hairstyle, but it can only be done in handheld mode, not with the Switch Joy-Con, and Pikachu or Eevee must not wear a hat around then. Anyway, we enter Route 9, which is very infamous for its many ledges and a few Trainers to battle against.
As the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description.
I was surprised that Magikarp didn't get Tackle when I took it out of the Day Care Center, because I know in previous games, Pokémon would learn moves, and it overwrote previous moves, but I didn't expect Magikarp to not learn Tackle, so that means my Magikarp can't do anything until it evolves. The nice thing about the Day Care is that the Pokémon that you leave there have a chance of giving you a Berry or a Rare Candy depending on how long you leave it there for.
For Route 9, the only new encounters are evolved forms of previous Pokémon, those are Fearow, Nidorina and Nidorino. Fearow unfortunately won't have any damaging Flying-type moves until Drill Peck at Level 47, so it's best catching it as a Spearow back at Route 22, otherwise it's just Pokédex filler.
As for Nidorina and Nidorino, they can be evolved immediately with the Moon Stone, so if you didn't pick up a Nidoran back at Route 22, it's not too late to get a Nidoqueen or Nidoking, and they learn Body Slam or Thrash respectively upon evolution, and can learn a wide variety of moves, like Dig and Thunderbolt at this point in the game.
There is one new encounter on Route 10, that is Krabby. Back in the day, before the Physical and Special split, Krabby was hindered by its type, because Water was a Special type, and Krabby had very low Special Attack, but thankfully the Physical and Special split helped Krabby a little bit, but its Physical movepool is quite limited. Krabby can get Stomp at Level 23, but it is outclassed by Headbutt. It isn't until Level 41 as a Kingler that it will learn Crabhammer, which is Kingler's only Physical Water-type move. It does get moves like Dig and Brick Break through TM, but otherwise it is outclassed by better Water-type Pokémon. Kingler does have high Attack and Defense, but it just has a very limited movepool, and it doesn't get its best move until later in the game, I would say it is a decent Pokémon.
We get a new scene in this game which wasn't in the original games, many Team Rocket Grunts attempt to take me on at once, until Lorelei of the Elite Four comes and takes out the Rocket Grunts, this is the earliest that an Elite Four member ever shows up in the story.
