Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! Playthrough 24: Snorlax Awakened
Now that I have the Poké Flute from Mr. Fuji, it is time to wake up Snorlax and capture it so that way we can get to Fuchsia City. There are two different paths, the shorter route from Celadon City, and the longer route from Lavender Town. You will see which Snorlax I end up going for in this video.
As the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description.
There are two Snorlax blocking each path, one is at Celadon City, and the other is the route from Lavender Town. Another thing is that you can battle Snorlax before catching it. I like this remix of the Wild Pokémon Battle theme, and it is one of few times you ever hear it, because you don't normally battle the wild Pokémon in this game.
Each Snorlax will gain a stat boost when battled, the Snorlax on Route 16 will get a Defense boost, while the Snorlax on Route 12 will get an Attack boost, so it's sort of like the Totem Pokémon battle in Sun & Moon where they gain a stat boost.
Snorlax is tough, because not only does it have high HP, but it can hit very hard with Headbutt, and use Rest to restore its HP. You do have a 5 minute timer to defeat Snorlax in battle, and after defeating it, you then have a chance to capture Snorlax.
If you want to use Snorlax on your team, you can use Madam Celadon's Nature Manipulation, and the recommend natures are Brave or Adamant, as Snorlax has good Attack, but it has low Speed and not great Special Attack. Snorlax has great bulk thanks to its massive HP and great Special Defense, allowing it to take hits in battle. Snorlax is the best Pay Day user in the game, as it gets STAB and has the highest Attack out of any Normal-type Pokémon that can use Pay Day. As for level up moves, Snorlax comes with Headbutt when caught, and it can learn Amnesia at Level 45, Body Slam at Level 52, and it isn't until Level 58 that it learns Crunch, and Level 65 that it learns Superpower. Snorlax learns a wide variety of TMs, like Brick Break, and later on it can get Earthquake and the Elemental Punches. Snorlax can fit in well on any team, or if you need to add a Normal-type to your team, it is obtained at Level 34, which is a good level for it, and another thing is that you can ride Snorlax, well you just hold onto Snorlax's belly while you control Snorlax.
There is a house on Route 16 where you can get the TM for Fly, which can be taught to Pidgeot, Fearow, Dodrio and Charizard. Speaking of Dodrio, you can encounter Doduo and its evolved form Dodrio on Route 16, but I will wait till the next part to go over the Doduo line, as they can also be encountered on Route 17.
