S T A L K E R: Call of Pripyat - ( 2022 ) Video #179: Cry Me a River Port
When I returned to the Laundromat, after my third trip to the River Port, I looked at the time and realized I still had a few hours of daylight left. What should I do? Well, that answer was easy. Go attack the River Port. I discovered that the far side has some electrical or mechanical boxes that provide some great cover. Behind me the Prometheus Movie Theater provides some good open space where I feel comfortable turning around to make sure I'm not being surprised from that direction. Most of the Monolith seem to be hanging out at the far end of the building where the tower is anyway. So, I have a good routine down.
The real question is why do the Monolith think that the River Port is so important to reinforce it so quickly? Is that how they arrive at Pripyat? Is it important to control that so they have a safe entry into the dead city? There's no way for me to know, other than realizing that no matter how many times I kill the Monolith there, they will return. With that in mind, I seem to have found a reliable source of ammo and other supplies. A steady source of high-end weapons to repair and sell. I don't have any enemies in Zaton or Jupiter, that once I fight them at a location that they return. Zombies don't really count since they are unorganized, and their loot is generally terrible.
I wonder if clearing out the River Port just prior to the Evacuation would be helpful? There's no way to know until the time comes and I do that. I certainly have nothing to lose by reducing the number of nearby Monolith but on the other hand, if they spawn or return to the River Port so quickly by the time I get back to the Laundromat, maybe that's a futile effort. It's definitely something to consider.
