Standing before Cardan, I show him the Gauss Gun which he identifies as Item 62and then passes out from the shock of it. I have to wait until he recovers so I leave the Skadovsk and spend some time with some Loners at the Dredge. I come back later, and he is ready to talk. Cardan gives me a green keycard that opens the "Testing Workshop" located under the Iron Forest. I had visited it many times but could not get the door to crack open. Now I would get to see what was inside.

I find a Loner outside the Skadovsk I had passed returning from the Dredge and I used him for fast travel to the Iron Forest. Luckily it was not preoccupied with Zombies or Bandits, I was hoping not to get him killed but I did have to shoot the Poltergeist and got beat up by several thrown objects before I did. As I got closer to the corner where the entrance was, my Mini-Map indicated the number it was occupied with, and my newly upgraded Tactical Helmet displayed in the Mini-Map the red dots of their positions.

Using the green keycard I opened the vault door and I figured only Zombies could have survived in here all this time. Sure enough there were Zombies and two PKMs among them. They were easy to knock off and I started finding loot in the various rooms. I looked out a screened window and saw a large chamber below and a large creature waiting for me that I knew as a Pseudogiant. It would be the first one seen in Call of Pripyat but not the last.

I quickly made my way down to the lower level and found a ladder to go up as soon as I could. I had brought the more powerful F-1 grenade, but it was difficult to get it close enough to hurt the Pseudogiant since it was constantly moving. The shock waves were draining my health despite equipping a Firefly artifact. I tried to leap from one platform to another, but I dropped like a lead weight and found myself on the ground with the Pseudogiant. I ran and found a safe channel underneath the platform on wheels, where I was able to shoot the Pseudogiant from.

I ran out the far side, but my movements were sluggish, much like my jumping ability. I went up some stairs and moved to the highest platform, but it was even harder to see below, let alone throw accurately at any target. I move to a lower platform and again try to make the same leap to another but apparently being in the presence of a Pseudogiant, makes fast movement and jumps impossible. Again, I drop in its face and again I seek the safety of the channel and from there my Eliminator finishes off the Pseudogiant.

All the while why this was going on, My Mini-Map detected 3 NPCs above me and they never moved in close enough for me to tell what kind. I continued looking for loot including recovering the ammo and Eliminator shotgun at the very top ( the shotgun had fallen to the ground below and some ammo ) which is normally found next to the crane motor. In previous Games I had mentioned before the Vault door would slowly crack open over time whenever you visited it. Eventually it got wide enough to go in. There were no Zombies or Pseudogiant yet, but you could find all the other loot including getting a free Eliminator early. Not this Game though.

Soon I was up in the catwalks again, finding my way to the other side and over to the ventilation shafts that were missing a panel and was my way inside to the next section. Dropping from the ventilation shaft to the area below I found a giant Gauss Gun. There on a table was a Document and a yellow keycard appeared in my inventory. It would come into play in Pripyat. I found an exit to a stairwell and a gate that opened from the inside that led me back up to the top and out the vault door.

By this time, I knew that the three NPCs were only one and to my relief it was a Loner. I ran up to him recognizing the SEVA suit Loner from the Dredge. Then I saw his companion the Exoskeleton Loner examining three dead Zombies. So, I had picked up the Zombies first since there were only two Loners. After looting the Zombies, I didn't waste any more time and took fast travel back to the Skadovsk, where Cardan was happy to see the documents. More time waiting while he looked them over. Soon he would be able to repair it, create ammo for it and make a lot of money from me as I bought at least 400 rounds. The video ends shortly before all that.
