This next video is a mess. I get killed quickly the first time doing it as I am supposed to. I get killed quickly a second time doing it differently by not joining the Military inside the building, but instead climbing to the water tank with the Military sniper with the SVU. A third time I go back to joining the Military in the building like I should but the Monolith's behavior each time is so different, it's hard to understand exactly what is going on.

In my defense, I haven't played Call of Pripyat since 2015. I hate to admit it but when I was playing last, I only got as far as the Pripyat Underground and the snork attack entering the chamber with the railroad cars just before the Dome. Again and again, I redid that scenario and again and again my team kept getting killed and in a fit of rage I stopped playing. I think I immediately started playing Call of Chernobyl for the first time version 1.2 or maybe I even returned to playing The Long Dark. I can't remember other than quitting.

The last time I was in Pripyat and doing this scenario was probably 2010 or 2011. At least a decade and a couple of years at most. That's a long time. All I remember from this mission is that it is really hard to keep any and especially all of the Military squad I am with alive. There's lots of Monolith and they keep coming out of the building from all floors and many rooms and windows. Most of all there's a Monolith on the roof with the unidentified weapon that we all know is the Gauss Gun from Shadow of Chernobyl.

I tried shooting out the window from the second floor like I am supposed to but there's just too many Monoliths and too few of us. There's somewhere in the vicinity of 15-20 Monolith and four of us in the building and one on the water tank, who is an easy target for the Gauss Gun sniper. The Captain and I are up on the second floor and the two other Military beneath us on the first floor. I know in the past I was able to keep the Captain alive but it's nearly impossible to do that.

For that reason, I leave my position and decide to go downstairs and run across the connection building and enter the other wing. I go crazy with my shotgun, and I don't believe I've ever done something like this before in this mission. It was a total surprise to enter that one room and find four Monolith praying and just about to join the fight. I just went nuts blasting away and killing everyone I could. There were way, way more Monolith in here than I remembered. Yes, I am killed a few times and I restart at one of my Manual Saves made after killing half of them or so. Yes, I forgot exactly where they Gauss Gun sniper was standing. I thought it was at the edge of the building on the roof ( that I could reach ) and not where I finally find him.

Is getting killed and starting again at a Manual Save that was made halfway through the battle, cheating? I don't know. Yes and No. I mean I should be able to do this entire thing without getting killed and I still may try that. But for now, in this video, I continue to keep redoing things until I am the lone survivor. There is so much loot it takes two trips to gather and take it all back to the Laundromat and even then, I could not carry all the pistols and bottle of vodka I had to leave behind, and this was using Hercules on both trips.

So, there you have it. A video that went on too long, almost an hour and I get killed multiple times. Even in the final battle when the Gauss Gun sniper and I are both shooting each other, my health dropped so low I could hear my heartbeat pounding in my ears and I had to duck aside thinking my shooting was on target, but he was not beat, and only then did I get the message to recover the unidentified weapon. He had fallen right as I went behind the wall to give myself a medkit and save my own life. I'm probably going to try this mission again tomorrow but tonight I am just too exhausted. I decided to share this video anyway rather than only posting videos where I am perfect and don't die. That's just not the way playing Stalker works. Some of the best times in all the Stalker Games is getting killed. Unlike real life when that happens, there's always another chance and why we all like playing videogames.
