Space Invaders 1978 Arcade Original - Attract, gameplay & playthrough with cabinet artwork [4K60]
Multiple wave gameplay run / longplay / playthrough on the classic 1978 arcade game Space Invaders from Taito and created by Tomohiro Nishikado / 西角 友宏. Going alongside titles like Computer Space and Pong in history for shaping the video games industry.
From the iconic look of the invaders to the highly addictive gameplay that still remains hugely playable even now. Why it worked was the game is simple to pick up and play with you taking on the advancing invaders. Whom have a menacing factor to them in the way they slowly head towards you. The game was also really import for sound design with the way the sound speed up as the invaders got faster.
Each wave end up with one lone invader racing towards you at max speed as you try to shoot them. The max score is 9990 at which point it resets back to zero. Each wave gets lower to your bases until the 5th wave at which point they just endless loop and the shots fired during a game decide the points value of the mystery ship. For this video we have used cabinet artwork designs for MAME from Mr. Do!'s Arcade at MAMEWorld website. It shows how nice emulated games can look with the right care and attention. Certain arcade revision featured a moon drop background which is shown in this art design. While it's fair to say a few of the art designs are a little odd for the cabinets, this one looks great and it's a shame official reissues of the game don't look as good. While Space Invaders did get a mountain of sequels, the original remains a timeless classic. The attract mode is featured to show the subtle humour included in it, with the invaders coming to fix the of the spelling mistakes seen in it.
