Unvanquished 0.13 Gameplay on Ubuntu Linux (Alpha 13)
11This video shows Unvanquished Alpha 13 gameplay natively at 1920x1080 (fullscreen) on Ubuntu 12.10 64Bit with max graphics settings.
Unvanquished Alpha 13 has just been released! Unvanquished is celebrating it's first anniversary with this release. I try to showcase all the new updates in the Alpha and previous alphas that I didn't manage to record gameplays of.
Unvanquished is the successor to Tremulous. It is enhanced from all angles. In Alpha 13, they've upgraded the bots so as to be smarter and not get stuck. They've optimized and beautified the in-game console (which really looks neat now).
There are two parts to this video. The first is where I just join the official development server, and play along bots and real people. You get to see the flamethrower in action, which showcases some cool looking lighting.
The second part is where I create a dedicated server from the bots2 branch I compiled myself. I use /devmap to allow cheats, so I can get funds fast and showcase as many guns as I can. Sadly, something isn't working right with the Plat23 and Parpax map on my end. Thus it resulted in a textureless map. I still show the console in action though, and spawn bots through it.
I had to disable "Unredirect Fullscreen" in Compiz Config Settings Manager to record this game, otherwise the recording would flicker. Although fps was capped at 60, you'll notice the game plays very well here. It never drops. The first gameplay part in this video was only recorded with 30fps which is why it is slightly choppy. I recorded the Plat23 gameplay next with 60fps, making it much more smoother.
