Released 6/18/1985, Wrecking Crew for Famicom is basically identical to the NES version, but it also has a Vs. Arcade counterpart which features cooperative gameplay like Mario Bros. In a sense, this game is an offshoot or side-hustle business for Mario Bros. subcontractors. They are working for the Wrecking Crew, whose foreman, Spike, can be as much of a headache as a help to them. You are tasked with demolishing a building and avoiding killer wrenches. You must carefully consider the order in which you destroy each part of the building or else you will become stuck.

The genre is best described as puzzle-platformer, and there are plenty of secrets to discover in its 100 levels. The level editor on this game as well as Mario's outfit suggest this is a spiritual predecessor to Super Mario Maker. It's also interesting to note how many times Mario appears in other games between Mario Bros. in 1983 and Super Mario Bros. in 1985. I count fifteen appearances!

I am considering a playthrough to be beating the Top Score. I played on an original NES using a NES Advantage controller, RCA cables, and a Sharp X-Flat 27" CRT TV.
