About this video: When it comes to playing Minecraft with your friends, it can be a bit difficult. However, there are a bunch of different ways that you can make a Minecraft server to play with your friends, and in this video, we are going to give you the basics of all of those methods. It is worth mentioning however that we aren’t going to cover every method in-depth. For that, you will need to use the guides in the description above.
Nevertheless, there are five different methods of making a Minecraft server to play with your friends that we are going to be covering in this video.
First up is hosting a server yourself. This means downloading the Minecraft server files, creating a server on your own computer, and then port forwarding to allow your friends to play on your Minecraft server. This is probably the most difficult on this list, but it doesn’t cost anything and allows you to have full control over your Minecraft server.
If you and your friend are on the same internet connection though (at the same house), you can also host a LAN server. This will allow your friends to play in your single player world with you. You can open any single player world to LAN by hitting escape and clicking the Open To LAN button. Your friend will be able to find the server in their multiplayer menu as long as they are on the same network as you.
The easiest way to host a Minecraft server though while still keeping as much customization as possible is through a third-party hosting company.
