Bayonetta - Chapter 5 A
Back to Rodin's once more! Let's get some techniques....and only use like one of them for this Chapter. Yeah, that's the first of this chapter's many, many screw ups. Chapter 5 is a doozy of a chapter...and my performance anxiety didn't help matters!
Heel Slide is the leg version of Siletto, in most cases a gap closing move. Now, Witch Twist is a neat upper cut that'll also do a Wicked Weave. There's enough slowdown with the move that you can dodge out of it if you did it by mistake. Usually strong enough to launch even bigger enemies into the air for an aerial combo. And Heel Stomp is a leg variant of Tetsuzanko, focusing more on grinding foes into the ground than knocking them away like that one does.
"Where the hell am I?" Well, if you'd only read that book you'd know exactly where, but no time for that, Bayo! Let's try out Kulshedra, shall we? I didn't much like the whip my first go through the game, mostly due to not understanding it. Its moveset isn't the strongest in the game, but its unparalleled at controling the flow of battle. As you see a bit here and there, you can choose to reel enemies in, swing them around or even zip to THEM and lay down the hurt. Reeling them in also has a unique melee combo, ending with a Wicked Backhand. Bigger enemies are hard to deal with though, but for normal enemies its quite good...not so good when the ground's breaking up beneath you, is it?
And here's Grace and Glory....Bosses in Mook's Clothing if ever where were any! Always in a pair, they're aggressive, coordinate their moves and just hit hard! Of the two, Grace (fire guy) hits harder, but is slower, while Glory (lightning) is all about speed. Their Angel Weapons are pretty good...just not against them! Foolish of me to even try! By the way, I was charing up with Grace's weapon and that would have me spinning around in a flaming tornado for a time, very similar to a Viewtiful Joe boss, Fire Leo. Unfortunately, we'll be seeing more of Grace and Glory later on...
Wow, an even more fragmented Gold LP...whatever this weapon is, it better be good! And here's Luka again! I gotta say...I get that its to save money for all the over-the-top action cinematics, but going back and forth between what are essentially model viewers, full cutscenes and those "vintage" ones with film reels is disorientating... Fun fact here, those ladies Luka mentioned? Female main characters of several games Hideki Kamiya has worked on, from Resident Evil to Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe and then there's Ammy from Okami...who is a dog. Luka, you lady-killer!
Meet Fearless, Fairness' best friend! Fire and lighting seems to be a popular pairing in the Bayo world...I'm getting a little tired of encounters on falling ground here, Platinum!
Oh God, MORE Grace and Glory?! At least their unique Torture Attack is cathartic... Here's also the introduction of Harmony. They're really not too much trouble...and for some reason Torture Attacks used on them produce a chainsaw Angel Weapon for Bayo to use...despite the Harmony enemies lacking a chainsaw...just role with it!
And then here's ANOTHER new enemy, Ardor....probably my favorite design in the whole game. Its the red, really. They're usually not TOO scary, but then I went and took the fight to the stairs...they had the high ground!
After a perilous Witch Walk segment, we find ourselves with another Combo Door, but we'll have to find the statues....and who is guarding them, but yet ANOTHER Grace and Glory. And that fight started so well! Here begins my downward spiral for this chapter...
(You hear the Umbra Elder saying "The shadow remains cast!" when continuing from death....I didn't cut it as well as I initially thought. Sorry!)
