I don’t mean to brag, but I think I’m getting better at editing these together, picking up JUST where we left off. Time to take out more cannon fodder! I do have to say though, the mace-wielding enemies can get annoying, not really staggering much as they ready their attacks. And then there’s the horn ones. Fun fact, as you see here, you can bat their projectiles back at them when under Witch Time. Kinda like how Joe could hit bullets back at enemies from Viewtiful Joe with his Slow power. Speaking of those horns, just LOOK at that damage! Shotgun horn is the best.

I should correct myself from earlier. There aren’t a ton of UNIQUE Torture Attacks in the game, though there are some. We’ll see all of the Torture Attacks eventually though. And here’s yet ANOTHER Beloved. If they were ever supposed to be intimidating before, they’re kinda losing it now due to sheer overuse. I should stress that I think it’s actually impossible to beat this Beloved before they hightail it out of there. I kinda chuckle at it running off as I turn my attention to the smaller threats. Its so unlike Bayo to let an angel go free like that…

Now its time to face Bayo’s greatest challenge yet…street cars! So yeah, if you don’t dodge that its an instant death. Boo. And yeah, dodging INTO things might seem counter-intuitive, but this is video games 101, amirite?! It serves as a fun intro to Enchants, though. That’s right, the Japanese wheel monsters you see in tons of other games are here too! Enchants can be kind of annoying, constantly moving around and being a little hard to pin down. But I did OK.
And now here’s the introduction to Alfheim portals. These are Hidden Verses with an emphasis on being challenging. As you see in this one, there’s limitations put upon how many punches and kicks you can use. I…don’t find many of the Alfheim challenges to be very fun in this game. I like the IDEA behind them, but not only are some of them really hidden, they just aren’t fun. Many Alfeim portals require a specific strategy or even weapon to really take them on, and uh….yeah, not a fan! I might show some others off down the line, but don’t hold your breath.

This next encounter kinda shows how annoying Enchants can be…except for the poor things that get stuck in walls! That’s not a glitch, by the way. Some are just unlucky! They’ll shoot projectiles at you instead if you don’t get them free. Oh hey, Beloved! You’re back! Seriously, if these big enemies are just running away how am I supposed to fea- TWO of them you say? That’s…still not that bad, really. Well, I say that and get wrecked by that second one once I pick up that weapon. That’s a good example of maybe not going for those Angel Weapons! And yes, I can see I totally missed a book and went straight for that LP after the fight.
Hey hey, there just happens to be ANOTHER portal to Rodin’s shop. Convenient! Meet our first melee-only (mostly!) weapon, Shuraba!

Shuraba’s fast, strong and stylish…I like it a lot. Its Wicked Weaves are Wicked Blades, and often have huge range. When you charge this sword up, you get a three-staged spin attack that does heavy damage at the second and third charges. And then its got something unique going for it. Hold the lock-on button and stay PERFECTLY still, and Bayo will eventually start drawing a magic circle with the blade. Hit the X button when half-way drawn for the Half-Moon Slash, or wait until she’s done for the Full-Moon Slash. I can’t speak for the overall power of these moves though, as they’re the most impractical things ever, not to mention inaccurate, but hey, if you can pull it off, you’re a real cool guy/gal! Man, do I LOVE getting a Pure Platinum when testing this thing out on those victims. Mmm-hmm! As you see here, the LP used to help forge Shuraba is Beethoven’s own Moonlight Sonata. Neato!

Our first health upgrade AND our first magic upgrade? Neato! There’s this random little girl here too, huh….eh, I’m sure she’s not important or anything. And now time to wind things down with another boss…oh hai, Two Head! Much like before, all this guy really does is spit hot fire and lash at you. The problem comes from being in such a cramped arena! I’m happy with my result here, even if I did get hit. I was probably a LITTLE too skiddish here, but I’ve had many a ruined run of this stage in the past. And that’s BEFORE this horrid QTE. I have to stress the extremely specific timing for that QTE. You have about one second, literally. Don’t press it early, don’t HOLD it just…do it perfect! And if you don’t, you immediately die, which seems awfully unfair when the battle’s over right afterward.

And so we fall. Hmm, Bayo’s little toy representative didn’t move on the board, and now everything’s on fire…uh-oh.
