Chrono Trigger: Enhansa Edition is a hack by inuksuk that rebalances things such as characters, equipment, techs, and so on to provide a harder challenge overall.

To get the patch, you'll need to join the NGPlus discord. A link to join it is located here:

Version being played: 0.4.4

Welp, we need some Dreamstone, but it hasn't been around in forever. You'd think this would be a huge search to find someone that knows where we can pick up some, but Melchior in the last video dropped a big hint for that.

Recall that he said it's been a very long time since there's been any Dreamstone to utilize. Obviously there wouldn't be any in 1000AD. Since we've seen the blade in 600AD, it's highly unlikely there'd be a piece there too.

That only leaves one option...go back even further in time. Among the pillars of light in the End of Time exists one that takes you all the way back to the prehistoric era....65m BC to be precise. This one is on the southern end of the light pillars so find it and take it.

When the team arrives in the prehistoric era, they immediately get attacked by some Grunts. They don't get time to do much of anything before getting flattened by my team.

A wave of eight Grunts come in only to get schooled by a random woman from this era who kills three of the jerks herself while taking a fourth off screen, leaving the final four to get flattened by Crono & his pals.

After the action calms down, the woman from before approaches the party, claims Crono is strong, then introduces herself as Ayla. When the conversation with her eventually gets to the matter of Dreamstones, Ayla says there's plenty to go around and asks you to head to the village of Ioka to pick some up and heads on ahead.

As you head south into the next screen, there's a Berserker to grab and some new enemies to meet.

Runners have high defense and have a bit of a kick to their physicals. Magic's the way to go with them, but amusingly enough Crono's Lightning spell will actually boost their physical defense even higher.

As for Kilwalas, they trade damage and physical defense for higher than average magic defense.

Once you're on the world map, Ioka is to your northeast with four huts to check out. The southeastern one by the watchtower has an NPC that will freely refill your hps & mps if you want. The northeastern hut is very important too, but let's check out the northwestern hut first as that's where Ayla is right now.

Speaking to Ayla reveals she wants to throw a party for our crew. I suppose we can have a little fun!

When you gain control at the party site, you can talk to everyone several times. Eventually, a couple chats with Ayla end in a mini game where you have to consume more soup than her to get the Dreamstone.

After winning the game, everyone drinks one last bowl of soup for health. Good news? We got the Dreamstone. Bad news? Someone decided making off with the Gate Key while we were asleep was a good idea.

The team immediately heads to Ayla's hut and, after waking her up from her soup induced siesta, inform her of what happened. She immediately puts the blame on the Reptite clan and vows to get it back, joining the party as a forced second team member.

Ayla's a beast, plain & simple. Tons of power, very high speed & evasion, and surprisingly good magic defense too. Her magic stat's really bad, but that's about it.

Talking with the Ioka folk reveal that the Reptites came from the meeting site and went south to the Forest Maze. South it is we go!

At the Forest Maze, there's someone at the entrance by the name of Kino. As it turns out, he was the one responsible for swiping the Gate Key. He thinks it's because Ayla believe Crono's more her style, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Ayla has the utmost confidence in his abilities to be a good chief if something were to happen to her.

Only problem with getting the key back...the Reptites do indeed have it now. Ayla orders Kino to head back to the village and defend it while she's not there.

Before we get to investigating the maze, there's one last hut in Ioka to check out, the northeast one. There's an NPC inside who'll trade petals/fang/horns/feathers for equipment. Choose the two ingredients you want to trade and, provided you have at least 3 of your chosen ingredients, will be offered an item.

Now, how to get these ingredients? The Hunting Range north of the hut. There's lots of enemies to kill for the needed parts, but there's also a Nu that appears when it starts raining. It can appear at the southeast, northeast, or northwest corners.

Upon knocking out a Nu, you get 3 each of all the ingredients. You also get a Third Eye accessory (2x evasion) for your first Nu defeat here.

Next time, I'll talk about the gear on tap here.
