The first step of fixing lag in Minecraft 1.17 is actually downloading and install Optifine. Luckily, we have a complete guide on how to get Optifine for Minecraft 1.17 in the description above. Once you have Optifine, we can move to the Minecraft launcher. We are starting here as some of the first and easiest lag fixes you can do in Minecraft are actually in the Minecraft launcher. To get started, click on ‘installations’, hover over the Optifine profile, click the three dots, and hit ‘edit’. You will then be taken to an edit menu where you can add more RAM to Minecraft or change the screen size. The smaller the screen size/resolution in Minecraft the better as you will have less to load and thus reduced lag. Set this to whatever you want.
