A Guide on how to install EA's Origin client on Ubuntu with PlayOnLinux. This tutorial can be used for Ubuntu 12.04/12.10/13.04/13.10/14.04/14.10 and any other Linux distro that has PlayOnLinux.

WARNING: Origin updates itself a lot, and sometimes the OriginThinSetup.exe won't work in PlayOnLinux! For these cases, please instead use OriginSetup.exe. You can obtain it from here: https://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe

What's new in this updated guide you ask? The installation process should be a single time thing! With the advancements in Wine, Wine 1.7.35 now eliminates the need for us to patch anything.

So long as you can install PlayOnLinux 4.2 or greater, you can follow this guide.

The EA Origin client is FREE! So, you're more than welcome to try it yourself.

To follow this video, you will need:
1. PlayOnLinux 4.2 or greater
2. OriginThinSetup.exe
3. Wine 1.7.35 (or newer) installed in POL

Hopefully this video is still easy to follow. This video only guides you on getting the client up and running, but downloading and installing games should work fine now (no need for patching or anything of the sort). You can chat, browse the store, buy games, download games, install games and play them. Note that DX10/11 games won't work!

This means BF3/BF4/Crysis3/Titanfall are a no go.

Download EA's Origin [FREE]:
http://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe

Download Steam for Linux here (FREE):
http://store.steampowered.com/about/

P.S: There should no longer be a need to patch anything! The only issue you should run into is when the installing of games gets stuck. In these cases, just open System Monitor and kill the EAProxyInstaller process. Go ahead and test/play your games after that!
