A short video checking out the released Metro Last Light Redux benchmark running on both Ubuntu and Windows, both natively!

This has to be a good start to 2015! This benchmark test is divided into two parts. The first you'll see is with SSAA On.

The second is with SSAA OFF. Now this is where things get really interesting. Watch the video till the end, if you're a Linux gamer. I think you'll like what you see.

On Windows 8.1 64bit I am using the Nvidia 344.75 driver.
On Ubuntu 14.10 64bit I am using the Nvidia 343.36 driver.

Some may wonder why I didn't use the 347.09 drivers for Windows and the 346.22 drivers for Ubuntu. The reason is simple, both drivers are quite bugged on their respective platforms. One makes my UI lag badly, the other makes scenes in OpenGL incorrectly rendered.

I forget to mention in the video, but both systems have Advanced PhysX on. Metro LL Redux brings this improvement to Linux, since the previous LL had none.

The final result impresses me, since Windows was leading with SSAA ON and the newer revision driver. The tables turn practically 180 degrees though, once SSAA is OFF.

This benchmark actually has me thinking that the SSAA implementation in OpenGL is the only thing bringing down Linux performance. If it was improved, Linux would be the all round winners.

I would now highly suggest that if you're playing with everything maxed except SSAA, your best bet would be on Ubuntu Linux!

I apologize in advance if I've made any mistakes, I did the comparison to the best of my knowledge and hopefully have a consistent set of constants and variables in place to ensure this test is beneficial to you, the viewer.

Please note that one persons results does not represent an entire community's results. These results may not even be possible on AMD or Intel graphics hardware yet. Please share your experiences if you can.
