Our Masala Pattice Pav recipe is the perfect combination of spicy and savory flavors, with a hint of tanginess that will leave you craving for more.
It consists of a spicy potato filling, known as masala, which is encased in a crispy and golden brown pattice.
This delightful pattice is then sandwiched between soft and fluffy pav buns, creating the ultimate street-style snack.
Ingredients:
- 4 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 cup green peas, boiled and mashed
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 4 pav buns
- Butter for toasting
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnish
For the mint chutney:
- 1 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1 cup fresh coriander leaves
- 2 green chilies
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes and green peas. Set aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
3. Add green chilies and ginger-garlic paste. Sauté for a minute.
4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
5. Transfer the mixture to the potato and pea mixture. Add lemon juice and mix everything together.
6. Divide the mixture into small balls and flatten them to form patties.
7. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the patties until golden brown on both sides. Set aside.
8. For the mint chutney, blend together mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chilies, lemon juice, and salt to form a smooth paste. Set aside.
9. Slice the pav buns in half and toast them with a little butter until crispy.
10. To assemble, spread the mint chutney on one side of the toasted pav bun.
11. Place a pattice on top of the chutney and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
12. Serve hot with extra mint chutney and enjoy the street style Masala Pattice Pav.
Note: You can also add tamarind chutney, chopped onions, and sev as additional toppings for added flavor and crunch.
