Guess what you're hearing for nearly half of this video? That's right, boss music.

The fifth level of Wily's about-to-be-ruined fortress is the 'boss rematch' stage (and get used to this because it becomes a mainstay of the series), meaning that it's nothing but boss fights. Alright, so there's also one room that lets you select which order you want to fight them all in (provided of course that you know which teleporter leads to where*), but that's a small detail. Even the Wily Machine fight is just an amped-up rematch of the first game's finale, right down to the most effective (available) weapons being fire-based and bladed.

None of it's particularly challenging (some of the Robot Masters are actually less dangerous now due to the chambers being completely obstacle-free), although the inevitable sprite flickering while blowing the shit out of Wily's floating nonsense can be a problem all in itself (and results in an E-Tank being used, because I can't deal with sprite flickering).

As for the final stage, it's little more than a glorified hallway leading to... another boss! And this one is tragically awful. Dr. Wily appears to turn into an alien, drifts around in a very easy pattern while shooting single projectiles, and that's about it. This is the one time when Bubble Lead is absolutely necessary; without it, you can't win. The chance of depleting all of the weapon energy is practically 0, but if you somehow manage this then that's the end of the line. Unlike failing the Boobeam Trap (which was awful enough), there's no way to replenish the Bubble Lead before trying again, meaning you have no choice but to get Game Over.

Fun.

Anyway, none of that here. The 'alien' is destroyed, Wily's revealed to be pissing around with an arcade cabinet, and the world's saved from half-baked mad scientist schemes. Everything's over and done with. The End.

MESSAGE FROM DR LIGHT:
Go away and wait for whatever's next.

*I still don't remember which one goes where, but it's pretty clear that I don't need to.
