I've been negelecting this for long enough; time to get it out of the way.

And what better way to start than by giving Top Man a good kicking.

Oh, great start. Get hit by just about everything for 20 seconds.

Difficulty-wise, the level's a nice introduction to the game, and probably the least dangerous for traps and high-damage foes. A couple of pits lined with those bastard spikes and a mild platforming section are nothing to panic over (and if you do panic at these, then put the game down and don't even bother with the rest of the levels), leaving more than enough health for the boss.

Oh god, the boss...

ENTER: TOP MAN.

Top Of The Shitlist Man. Even the tiniest amount of health is enough to get by this excuse of an enemy. Top Man is quite simply a joke of an opponent, no matter the player's skill, and this is one of those rare occasions in Mega Man where destroying an easy boss with the Mega Buster results in obtaining an equally shitty weapon, rather than getting shit weapons for killing tough bastards. I mean okay, so thanks to weaknesses and knowing some patterns most of the bosses are going to be an absolute pushover anyway, but this guy... I'm just going to say it now.

Few of the Robot Masters throughout the classic series come close to being as useless as Top Man in a fight. And only one is objectively, undeniably worse at fighting when it's a Buster Duel.

So anyway, Top Spin. Yeah... this isn't going to get much use as a conventional weapon. But that's not what it's REALLY for.
