Psychonauts Gameplay on Ubuntu 12.10 (Native)
This video demonstrates Psychonauts gameplay natively on Full settings at 1920x1080 (fullscreen) on Ubuntu 12.10 64Bit.
I play Psychonauts in this video up to the 2nd mission of basic braining. Basically, this video covers the introductory stages. So, don't worry about it spoiling the story, since it's only the first couple of missions.
I wish I could show you the framerates, but Psychonauts has no way of doing this. When it was first ported, performance was not so good. The game would keep getting windowed or let the Unity bar overlay over it. Sometimes there would be strange flickers. Now those problems are gone. The game works great and smooth! There could be bugs later on in the game, but I haven't encountered any yet.
Pyschonauts is not a new game, but it is finally available to Linux Steam gamers! The game is singleplayer only if you were wondering. The 360 controller does not work well with this game. You're better of with a mouse+keyboard combo at the moment. I might try my old PS2 or PS1 controller via adapter and see if that translates better.
In Steam's store, the game still shows as only Windows/Mac but hopefully in the coming days of the Linux sale they will post it as a Linux game. It's already in my Library and working, so nothing gameplay/performance wise is holding it up.
