Red Dead Redemption 2 PC - Nvidia Hotfix Driver (441.34) - CPU stutter/freeze fix (again)
130Greetings, everyone.
Another RDR2 patch released a couple days ago, on Nov 19th, and this one tackles once more the 4 and 6 core CPU stutter and freezing issue, as promised by Rockstar, they have been working with Nvidia to get this fixed, and this time around we also need to install a Hotfix Driver, 441.34, which we can get from here: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4930.
We also have updated patch notes here: https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/360038342293/RDR2-Title-Update-1-14-Notes-PS4-Xbox-One-PC, and the proper instructions for those using 4 and 6 core CPUs and still suffering stutters and/or freezes, are here: https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/360038940333/Graphics-stuttering-or-stalling-in-Red-Dead-Redemption-2-on-PC. Basically: remove the launch parameter needed in the previous update (“-cpuLoadRebalancing”), that is not needed anymore; install the 441.34 Nvidia Hotfix driver, and that’s it, the game should run with no stutters or major freezes, according to the official notes from Rockstar.
My systems specs are the following:
-CPU: i5 4690K@4.4 GHz with Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO.
-Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger (Z97).
-GPU: Inno3D Twin X2 GTX 1070 (stock) and WHQL driver 441.34.
-RAM: 16 GB DDR3@1866, 9-10-9-28.
-Storage: Kingston SSDNow 300, 240 GB (O.S.), Samsung 750 EVO 500 GB (Game).
-Case: Fractal Design Meshify S2.
-PSU: Corsair RMx 650W 80+ Gold.
-O.S: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit with latest updates.
-Monitor: AOC AGON AG251FG 1080p-240Hz
And the game for me it’s running so far just as good as with the previous patch, but without the added launch parameter. For now I still have to spend several hours with the game to see if the random crashes still occur, but I’ll leave that for tomorrow when I have more time.

Hopefully this can be useful to any of you and this time the official fix works for all of you and not just some, because it’s about time to be honest, but you never know with Rockstar…
