World of Tanks Encore Ray Tracing Demo - i5 4690K & GTX 1070 Benchmarks
Greetings, everyone.
Since I’ve read around a bit about the interesting implementation of Ray Tracing under DX11 for World of Tanks, I decided to download their Encore demo and test the stuff myself. I used to play WoT a lot years ago, not anymore though, but still this game and its engine bring me lots of good memories, so why not, let’s test this a little bit.
My current PC specs are the following:
-CPU: i5 4690K@4.4 GHz with Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO.
-Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger (Z97).
-GPU: Inno3D Twin X2 GTX 1070 (stock) and WHQL driver 436.48.
-RAM: 16 GB DDR3@1866, 9-10-9-28.
-Storage: Kingston SSDNow 300, 240 GB (O.S.), Samsung 750 EVO 500 GB (Game).
-O.S: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit with latest updates.
-Monitor: AOC AGON AG251FG 1080p-240Hz
Unlike my more extensive FPS testing videos, this one is “a bit shorter” since it’s just benchmarks, merely checking out the three different Ray Tracing presets (High, Max and Ultra) and also doing a non RT benchmark on Ultra game settings, just to have some baseline score there to gauge the impact of the ray traced shadows implementation.
Have to say that while it doesn’t look like much, since it’s just shadows, it’s quite amazing this is running under DX11, honestly; they say they’ve used tech with the help of Intel, which is also quite promising, as Intel still has yet to launch their desktop GPU series…so this makes me kind of excited for what they could bring with their own hardware and other stuff they might use for their own Ray Tracing implementation, come 2020.
As usual, I hope this can be useful to any of you, and I’ll see you in the next one : )
