0:42 I’m probably not gonna note this every time, but for those curious, here you can see an example of a self-reference actually in the third person, which is one of the reasons why I’m such a stickler for subbing the first person as first person. As usual, context is king, but the big tell here is the honorific, which as you might guess is something only other people are supposed to use, so using it towards yourself makes the sentence sound parodic and off, like someone else is talking. Very different in tone from using a name or nickname as a first-person pronoun.
1:04 In Japanese, “upset stomach” is literally “destroy stomach,” which I think is hilarious. (If someone falls ill in general, they are said to have “destroyed their health.”)

Soya: Her nickname, different from her family name’s normal pronunciation of “Souya,” although she’ll often just pronounce that as “Soya” anyway. (Also different from the third-person reference I noted earlier.) She changed her first-person pronoun from “Ichika” to “Soya” so that people would call her Soya because it’s easier to egosearch.
Watashi: Standard choice that leans slightly formal and slightly feminine.
Atashi: Lazy way of pronouncing “watashi,” more casual and more feminine.
