Splatoon 3: Being run rings around in Tower Control [12(5)-4, Explosher]
Getting some height seems like a good idea. But, then, so does advancing on the Hydra Splatling when they're not looking my way, and that turns in to hasty retreat, whilst being chased. I'm lucky to get that splat. I go up again, jinking to avoid being in the same place as a squidmate, and to get a better view of the Tower, and then the other way, to catch the inkling flanking us. A Killer Wail helps clear the Tower, and some exploding ink keeps it clear. I ride the Tower, squidmates supporting, the Bubbler trapping an inkling nicely, but I have to run from the Hammer. Not before taking the lead, at least.
More pressure comes, and I'm forced backwards. I get the splat on my pursuer again, but am splatted in the process. My squidmates keep the Tower moving, which is good, and I come back slowly, inking turf, choosing my direction. Down the middle, in the end, which lets me hop on the Tower after it was splatted vacant, even if I run away again immediately, not seeing the Bubbler put on it. I retreat a bit early, claiming ink instead of the Tower, but it keeps me safe for a bit, even if it does see me head right back to our turf.
We're in defensive mode, and the Torpedoes aimed at me aren't helping. They aren't spatting me either, so the Dapple Dualies dash my way to get the splat by shooting, squid-surging for protection. It doesn't work. I manage to press forwards, as my squidmates right the Tower, applying some nice pressure, only to run out of ink. At least I get myself unstuck, and move behind the Tower, splatting the pesky Torpedo-thrower again. I appear to be drawing attention too, as the Splattershot Jr comes after me. They get close enough to make things difficult, and I'm splatted.
I return a little cautious, but get in to a strong position soon enough, and rain ink from above. That gets some attention, which takes it away from the Tower. A Point Sensor also highlights the Splattershot running right around the back of us again, charging their Bubbler, and being a nuisance. I watch and wait, but they don't run in to me. It doesn't matter, the Tower is nearly at the goal. I leave the Splattershot Jr alone and try to push for the goal, only to encounter some resistance.
The battle looks fairly safe as the clock runs down, although the inking the Splattershot Jr did is helping their final push, and I find myself with little room to work in. Little, but some. I cause my own problems, dragging one or two inklings after me, as I circle behind the Tower, where the Hydra Splatling isn't looking. If only my aim was better, I'd knock them off the Tower quicker, but I contribute, my squidmates complete, and the reclaim the Tower for the victory. Woomy!
