Our 2022 initiative here on #SuperOldGameSaturday is to play both of the Nintendo 64 Zelda games to 100% and, after Proterova joined the show for the first game (and his favorite), Ocarina of Time, now TheCrochetNerd64 is here for the second game (and HIS favorite). The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask was the 2000 follow-up to Ocarina of Time that was made in just over a year, but this was no rush job sequel and it may be even better than the already groundbreaking, stellar and seminal Ocarina of Time as it takes the franchise to darker places that may be shocking to some, but show a richness, depth and weight all of its own. We had a pretty active chat on this one (including Proterova, the star of our Ocarina of Time playthrough), as we began the first 5 hours of this one and went into all of our memories, thoughts and deep discussions on this great game, including details, themes and unplanned follies that even myself and my guest were not aware of (though some of the latter may have been due to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack version we're using to play this and yes, we DID discuss the contentious 3DS edition, too). As expected, we went deep into the lore of Zelda and our attachment to it, but also went off on other unique discussion topics that you've come to expect from our show, such as the time Milli Vanilli and Super Mario Bros. 3 mixed, Trogdor the Burninator, the CD-I Zeldas, Martha Wash, some great remixes of the great music here and much more.
