Welcome to the 2nd annual Memorial Day Weekend Compilation Program here at #SuperOldGameSaturday, where to celebrate the holiday and the long weekend that goes with it, we play a classic game compilation title with a tour of all the games it has and all of its extras. Last year, we began this tradition with Midway Arcade Treasures 1 for the PlayStation 2 and, for this year, we have its 2004 follow-up Midway Arcade Treasures 2, but this time, on the Xbox (and whenever we get to Midway Arcade Treasures 3, we'll play it on Gamecube, and speaking of which, let us know what compilation you'd most like to see for next year's show, and we'll make it happen). This collection was packed with 20 games; Arch Rivals, APB, Championship Sprint, Cyberball 2072, Gauntlet 2, Hard Drivin', Kozmic Krooz'r, Mortal Kombat 2, Mortal Kombat 3, NARC, Pit Fighter, Primal Rage, Rampage World Tour, Spy Hunter 2, Timber, Total Carnage, Wacko, Wizard of Wor (which I can't warn you strongly enough about its flashing lights cases; trust me, if you have sensitivities to that, you WILL want to look away during that one), Xenophobe and Xybots, and we played them all, while also checking out the archival material about the games (including videos with sketchy audio quality; sorry, but that's this collection's fault and not mine) and going into our experiences and memories with them and/or making new ones on what turned out to be perhaps the most emotional look at this game imaginable, starting with the undercurrent of melancholy from headline-making real-world events that had recently occurred when we aired this, me getting over a sickness and the chat elaborating on recent and devastating losses of theirs, but I appreciated how open we all were about those things and somehow, they fit in perfectly with a show that exhibited some unexpected hilarity, discovery of hidden arcade gems and also, a strong reflection on our memories with those no longer with us on some of the games in here. That all really made me see just how unique and personal a show this has become and how all of you in the audience have made that happen, for which I can't thank all of you enough and I'm honored to be a part of that with one of the most unique and special gaming streams/shows I can think of, which has become that way because of all of you.
