Sven Co-Op Sunday SuperCuts #14
This is the other classic mod I caught last Sunday, It's one of two that was made by Black Widow Games and PC Gamer Magazine. Yes, at one time Half-Life was so hot that Gaming magazine held CD-Roms that had Half-Life's demo Uplink, and in a few magazines' cases, Mods which worked on the WON Retail CD-Rom release of the game and it's how I learned of They Hunger and USS Darkstar which are among my most played mods not only in the WON set up I have on this laptop but also in the Sven Co-Op EU Server I play on.
USS Darkstar takes place in the year 2066 aboard the USS Darkstar, A zoological research ship where various Xen Creatures are kept for research along with a large amount of xen plantlife. It's during a usual day that a ship lands in the cargo bay with a dead barney and brought to the infirmary. Here, In a big parody of Alien a headcrab leaps out and starts a sequence that causes aliens to break out all over the ship and we got to get to an escape pod to get away from these monsters.
This video was sniped and edited as it the USS Darkstar run was a disjointed mess that only picked up in the late part. It's here that, after destroying the warp controls we're still on the path to locate the escape pods of this ship, and more of the unusual horrors that await us as the Xen creatures do a lot more violent scripted sequences vs Half-Life, with most of the scientists suffering the brunt such as the ship captain becoming a pile of gore in a smashed-up bathroom, quite brutal huh?
The keycard part always got me stuck and sometimes gets us stuck as its a tricky to locate switch behind the bookshelf of the Captain's Room that earns access to the engine controls and the escape pods. It's here the final level goes out with a blaze where we're avoiding a death trap fall, switching the engines off and getting out of here to Mars. I would've kept the original video of about 45 minutes but showing repeated deaths or restarts isn't something I like to do for viewers out there.
