Doom Wads/Mods Rise Of The Revisits #10:Laundry II Dry Hard
https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?t=46984 Like I had explained in my revisit of Mockery, The Jokewad has been with Doom and its community for many years, The Cacoawards honored them with the well thought out named Mockaward to honor the funniest wad of the year from 2004 to 2017 but even after its death the jokewad continues to live even today.
This wad is an interesting case as it was one of two runner-ups, the only 2 to ever be a runner up for the mockaward at the 2014 Cacoawards, Authored by Sgt. Shivers who would later work on DoomRL Arsenal, Final Doomer, and the DUMP Map Project Trilogy, It's undoubtly among the most unusual wads I've played and one that I now find to be a clever mix of satire and action.
First of all, Laundry II Dry Hard has no story at all to its name but is envisioned as the "most realistic wad ever", we've got dual pistols which have unlimited ammo only needing to be reloaded as we progress through 5 levels which couldn't be more different. Level 2 alone is somewhat a parody of horror films but also a big spoof on the saw film series and the death wish movie series, The boss? A Brony or MLP fan character who has fireball launcher and dual M16s which, ok, that fits the bill, It wouldn't be the first wad or mod that has MLP related content in it that I've tackled, Other levels parody Sonic the Hedgehog, Smash TV and also meme culture to a T and that's what drives this wad along its crooked tongue cheek path, and what makes it funny.
[[As one of the final 5 episodes of the first season, I began to see how powerful sourceports were, And with Laundry II it was the first one that gave me trouble with Zdoom as the darkness was bad and changing visual settings that would work in Windows XP was not easy. Yes.. I know my old videos between Seasons 1 to 5 were short as I figured short videos would bring attention and recording them took a huge strain on my old desktop pc and former HP Laptop, so in a way my series had a rough, rocky start but I think I did the best I could with what I had before I hit my stride]]
