A short video checking out the recently released Counter Strike Global Offensive running on both Ubuntu and Windows, both natively thanks to Valve!

Please note that it is well known that the Linux port still under performs compared to Windows, so this video is really just to see how big that difference is or isn't.

On both the Ubuntu and Windows side, I am using the NVIDIA 340 series drivers. Thus, discrepancies there should be minimal.

I was surprised to see CSGO able to uphold 120++ frames per-second on both platforms. However, it is pretty clear that it isn't frame-for-frame in performance when put up against Windows.

My own experience with the game is rock solid. I can't feel the difference, and it's able to be maxed out on Ubuntu 14.04 perfectly. I'm uninstalling it on Windows as I don't need it there anymore!

All in all, I highly recommend this title for purchase if you are a Linux gamer who is into First Person Shooters, and love some instant action.

I look forward to seeing future optimizations that Valve will bring out for CSGO.

I apologize in advance if I've made any mistakes, I did the comparison to the best of my knowledge and hopefully have a consistent set of constants and variables in place to ensure this test is beneficial to you, the viewer.
