Ultima IX - Tidbits #43: Obtain more than maximum bags + cheating the ring game
Though early guides warned about having too many bags in the backpack, it only caused mild fun, nothing serious.
Off-camera, I got only one empty bag, but here I had two. Not placed into the backpack, since it was full. Not placed on the toolbelt, since... well, it's not programmed that way. They are simply dropped to the ground, but my equipped item wasn't placed in any, rather simply appeared in the air.
Now, what is more interesting, that the gold also falls out and the arrows are nulled, but without any physical presence. I can place the fallen out gold in one of the bags and although not even an icon shows that it's there (unlike at 1-2 hardcoded bags in the game), it's still remembered, since when I place the bag on my toolbelt, I also have the gold back.
It's like the slot where the gold and the arrows are would be actual item slots, just handled different, instead of just being "counters", like mana, HP, karma, etc.
PLUS:
I never tried till today, but you can place weapons and scrolls in the ring before the fight, since they remove only the objects on you. Then you just equip them and voilá. This would even be helpful if the fights were hard.
This actually makes me wondered, what if we place the glitch-worn spellbook, etc. there, pick them up while the fight and see what happens when the belongings return. Probably a crash so big that it makes blue screen even the neigbour's computer, but it never hurts to crime.
Except, if you thnk about it, it requires an insanely great lot of setup to pull off well. The gain is probably not big, since I already played around with the spellbook/backpack in Wrong, part of which I showed in a video, and going overboard with it simply crashes the game and nothing else.
