Antarctic Adventure Famicom / NES CRT TV Playthrough asmr
Released 4/22/1985, Antarctic Adventure for Famicom is a port from the MSX. The first Konami game released for Famicom (along with Yie-Ar Kung Fu) inaugurated a fantastic run of games by the publisher on Nintendo's gaming platforms. It's a shame this game never made it to the NES, it would have likely been a classic.
Antarctic Adventure is a unique racing game in that you control an (Adalie?) penguin traveling from station to station across the frigid ice and snow of Antarctica. Along the way you will learn which countries have bases on the southernmost continent, although the USSR is strangely absent. You will dodge obstacles, collect flags, and catch fish for extra points. A propeller cap will allow you to fly for short distances over open crevices. You must hurry to your location before time runs out.
The art style and difficulty suggest this game is aimed at a younger audience than a game like F1 Race, even though there are three levels of difficulty. I am considering a playthrough to be making it around one loop on any difficulty. I played on an original NES with a Game Genie adapter (see Shorts) to allow for playing a Famicom cartridge. I am using a NES Advantage controller, RCA cables, and a Sharp X-Flat 27" CRT TV.
