12We back at it again friends with some more DS's HILTSWALTB. Gosh dang that's a catchy acronym, it's a wonder Stanley the Manley didn't go for it himself. Hope you're in the mood for some more fanciful word salad and light roleplay, because that's the mood I seem to be in at least, hah.
These older episodes are kind of hard to watch. When I edit videos now-a-days, I always hate seeing all the dumb mistakes I make. They happen because it's hard for me to talk and play well at the same time, but re-watching them can be a bit painful, hahah. When I go back in time like this, it's so much worse... just death after pointless death after easy-to-avoid death after shouldn't-have-happened death after why-did-I-do-that death after death. Lots of death, lacking heavily on justification. What.
But it's kind of fun to see young saproling Squiggs, not yet the treefolk of confidence he would become, talking to an audience that doesn't really exist. That's a pretty big shift in how I approach commentary now -- I know there's people out there watching, but when these early ones were recorded, there wasn't any guarantee of that. So it takes on a different flavour -- lacking in confidence, sure, but also a little bit free. Life keeps changing and we're stuck in the middle of the storm. Some things are lost, some are gained, and things will be different. Time doesn't stop for anyone, it just keeps chugging along, and change can't be avoided, it has to be embraced or it will tear you apart when it hits you the wrong way.
My life is changing a lot and it just has me thinking about stuff like that. The next chapter is going to be exciting though, so I'm not afraid, but it's always a little concerning when things won't be the same as they were and you know there's not an easy way to go back to the time before the change. And when the change seems overwhelming to me, I can always try and focus on the constants. Thanks for everything friends, you're all a great part of my life and I don't say it enough.
