Exit Fate #17 - Prison Break
Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.

Well now, Daniel had a bit of an unfortunate judo chop happen to him courtesy of the soldier that greeted him at Bergstadt's entrance as he was taking him to the governor's house.
Before we see where he ends up, the scene switches over to that mysterious woman Daniel ran into at his castle's gates, Brunhild. She goes to see someone, presumably the leader of whatever nation she hails from who goes by the name Siegfried, to deliver the results from her meeting with Daniel.
Those results reveal something very interesting...there's some entity known as the "Hand" that seems to reside in Daniel's body and is blocking out some key memories of his. Sounds like they're wanting to manipulate Daniel & this entity to shape the future for the good of their country. Still doesn't explain exactly how this spirit found its way into Daniel in the first place though.
Speaking of Daniel, he and his party find themselves locked up in a jail cell. Who else comes to see him personally other than the man he bested at the battle to free Grunthill, Rock.
Rock's conversation with Daniel boils down to corruption in Highland that's gotten markedly worse since Banhk took up the mantle of governor. The State Union isn't doing much better in his eyes, hence why he strikes up an offer for Daniel...join his side, overthrow Banhk, then watch as Kirgard stomps all over Zelmony the moment they launch their attack. Daniel, understandably, doesn't want to go along with this, so Rock gives him time to really think things over or stay as a hostage.
After he leaves, someone else comes walking in shortly after...a key to escape. This soldier is actually a spy working for the State Army and says to wait an hour before escaping so his presence now won't seem suspicious. Fair enough!
The prison break has random encounters, but surprisingly easy ones for the most part if Midian & Yan Angwa are setup to do a turn 1 Shadowcast since two of the three random enemies are groups of Highland rebels who have rather poor hp.
The sole enemy that can be a threat are the random wild tigers the rebels seem content on letting loose in the mines. They have quite a bit of hp and hit very very hard, smacking a single frontline target for around 80-90 damage. Thankfully they only ever show up solo.
This dungeon's main gimmick stems from some ventilation shafts you can enter after examining a door that's locked. Nothing real special and not all that confusing either despite one part giving you five vent shaft entrances to pick from.
The treasure is decent, but one stands out above the rest and it comes right away after leaving your jail cell. At the intersection, if you go west, you'll find two chests. One has a Noise spell, but the other contains a very valuable Mend-All spell.
After you reach the second save point in the mine, the next room features the spy failing a sneak check and getting offed by that soldier Rock had a small conversation with, Joshua. His father was killed in the corruption that's seemingly taken a tight grip around Highland and he refuses to let their trump card, Daniel, go so easily. Cue a boss fight!
Joshua isn't to be taken lightly despite having no backup on his side. His physical hits for ~90-100 on a frontliner while Knockdown hits a single target for roughly the same damage, but may inflict the stun status. Joshua's only skill that hits multiple targets is the tier 2 water spell Waterfall.
This fight boils down to having enough heals on hand to keep up with Joshua's strong attacks. May need to spend some turns to equip extra Brown Herbs if your stock of Mend spells are low. At least Joshua isn't super fast so you should be able to keep people from being KO'd.
Regarding Joshua's Waterfall spell, Joe can steal a copy for your team's use so make sure he does that before swapping him out if you're going to bring in a third mage.
After the fight, Rock comes in as Joshua's life begins to fade from his injuries. Rock starts to blame himself for putting people like Joshua in the line of fire to achieve his goals. It's at this moment he lets Daniel go free while stating how much Highland means to his rebel squad if people like Joshua are willing to give up their life to bring about justice for their homeland.
As if to drive that thought in, Daniel starts to question if what Rock said about the corruption in Highland is true. He still has that invitation from Banhk so he figures he might as well go take up that meeting and get some potential answers.
