Exit Fate #15 - Elysium Castle's Grand Opening
Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.
The latest version of the game can always be found here:

Time to exit Credence and check out the aptly named Credence Castle right next to town.
At the castle gates is the priest from town who goes by the name Luther. He's here for one reason and one reason only...to purge the place of an alleged vampire because there's been someone or something playing an organ at night. According to Luther, that means a vampire is here and boy is he gonna purge that jerk right out of the castle.
Luther joins the team temporarily so I won't go too in-depth to what he does, but do remove his Stone Amulet he comes with at a bare minimum.
The enemies inside the derelict castle are all shadow aligned. Vampire Bats & Dead Knights aren't too much to worry about, but Zombies hit very hard and Spectral Mages, while having a Pointed Hat steal, have some decent shadow damage attacks on tap and a new status ailment spell, Chaos. This makes a target potentially attack your party members...or even themselves as Joe demonstrates in one fight.
The castle's pretty linear with a couple detours along the way such as right at the start. Heading east at the first fork instead of west leads to a Studded Leather (5 pdf, 2 weight).
The next detour happens when you see two staircases. One leads into the basement while the other leads up a floor. I went up the stairs and never went into the basement cause there were a couple chests there (Stone Amulet & Cotton Scarf that boosts speed by 2).
There's one puzzle in this area and you'll be at it when you get to a room with five doors. Some of them will have upside-down crosses. Simply keep entering doors that do not have these upside-down crosses until you reach the next room. From there, it's a straight shot to the final room.
In the final room, Luther finds his...well, not a vampire, but the old man found here was playing a song he found on a music sheet that invited all those undead folk.
This old man goes by the name Royston and he's related to his uncle that once owned this castle. Seems like that could pose a problem with trying to take ownership of the castle for the army's defense, but Royston seems quite willing to hand over control and see it restored to its former glory. He just needs to tag along on the way to Matrech to make it all official.
After Luther leaves at the castle gates, his quest to find that crafty vampire and purge him once and for all still going strong, the scene switches back to Matrech where ownership of the castle is handed over to the State Union. Royston's only big stipulation? That he gets to stay at the castle for the rest of his life. Basically, he gets to be a new party member.
While I didn't get a chance to fully show off Royston's stats, his offensive capabilities aren't going to be stellar. He does have the highest potential mp+ stat of anyone in the game and very high magic defense though so he could work late game as a support caster of sorts.
After this scene ends, it switches over to the Kirgard army as Bruce is trying to mend a damaged pride...by requesting they charge head first into Zelmony and destroy Daniel once and for all. Keyser seems all chill with the plan, even letting Bruce take control of the second legion for the operation.
That operation comes with a huge drawback though...if it fails, Bruce would have to explain why he lead the army to ruin. Keyser, for being on the opposing side, sure knows how to keep Bruce's rage reined in doesn't he?
Flash forward two months and the renovations on the newly named Elysium Castle are complete. Daniel even gets an official rank, lieutenant-colonel, placing him right below the State Army's local colonels.
That night, Daniel's thinking about some last minute upgrades that could benefit the castle, but just then, some random woman comes walking in with some rather shocking claims that Daniel "forgot" about her. Daniel has no idea what she's talking about, but she seems to have been prepared for this and begins to leave, stating they'll meet again and will see who fate chooses.
The biggest reveal? Her name. When Daniel inquires, she responds with the name Brunhild and leaves. This one word seems to trigger something in Daniel, making him pass out and experience a flashback.
This flashback seems to involve this Brunhild woman during a time in Daniel's early years, right before the war with Almenga. He promised to return to his hometown at some point, but we don't get to see the end result of this as the flashback ends.
The video ends as Daniel wakes up in his room with Ljusalf explaining how he ended up here. Perhaps exhaustion, who knows.
More next time!
